Privacy Policy

The short version

• Your private writing (your "vent") is never shown to your partner. Only the message you approve is shared with them.
• We use AI to help turn your words into that message. We do not sell your data.
• Private writing is deleted automatically after 30 days by default. You can choose a shorter or longer period in the app, or delete it at any time.

Who we are

Oseya ("we", "us") provides a communication tool for couples. The legal entity, address and, for India, the Grievance Officer contact will be added here before launch. [TODO: entity details]

What we collect

• Account details: first name, country, language, time zone, and that you confirmed you are 18 or older. If you use the web link without the app, we create an anonymous account with no email or phone number.
• Your repair content: your private writing, your answers to clarifying questions, the message you approve, agreements and ratings.
• Safety events: if our safety check routes you to support resources, we store the level, category, time and action taken. We do not store extra copies of your words for this.
• Technical data: device type, app version, crash reports and product analytics events. Analytics never include your private writing.
• Purchases: subscription status from the App Store or Google Play. We do not see your card details.

Why we use it

• To provide the service: creating your message, sharing it with your partner after you approve it, guiding your talk and reminders.
• To keep people safe: every piece of private writing goes through a safety check before anything else happens.
• To improve the service, using analytics and crash data that do not contain your private writing.
• Legal basis (EU/UK): your explicit consent for relationship content, which is sensitive, and our contract with you for the rest. You can withdraw consent at any time by deleting your data or account.

What your partner can see

• Your partner can see your first name, the message you approved, the shared talk plan and your shared agreements.
• Your partner can never see your private writing, your clarifying answers, your draft message, or whether a safety event happened.

AI processing

• We use Anthropic (the Claude API) as an AI processor to check safety and to generate your message, common ground and talk plan. Your text is sent to Anthropic only to produce these results.
• Under our agreement with Anthropic, API data is not used to train their models. [TODO: confirm current Anthropic commercial terms and retention period before launch]

Subprocessors

• Amazon Web Services: hosting, database and email delivery (Amazon SES), currently in Sydney, Australia. Private writing is encrypted before it is stored.
• Anthropic: AI processing of the text you submit (safety check and message generation).
• RevenueCat: subscription management.
• Expo: push notification delivery.

How long we keep it

• Private writing and clarifying answers: deleted automatically after 30 days by default. You can choose 0, 7, 30 or 90 days in the app.
• Approved messages, agreements and ratings: kept while your couple space exists, deleted when you delete your account.
• Anonymous web accounts that are never linked to the app: deleted after [TODO: period] of inactivity.

Your rights

• You can access, export, correct or delete your data, and delete your account, from the app or by contacting us.
• EU/UK: you can also object to processing and complain to your data protection authority. India (DPDP Act 2023): you can contact our Grievance Officer. US states: we honor access and deletion requests and we do not sell or share personal data for advertising.

How to delete your account and data

Children

Oseya is only for people aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18.

International transfers

Changes

If we change this policy in a meaningful way, we will tell you in the app before the change takes effect.
